Community Based Mentoring | Big Duo | Family Matches | RequirementsCommunity Based MentoringCommunity Based Mentoring is the foundation on which Big Brothers Big Sisters was builtmatching youth ages 6 to 14 with adult role models one-on-one for guidance, support, and friendship.Community Based Mentoring meets a couple of times each month to do things together, such as toss a football, go on bike rides, bake cookies, work on homework, surf the internet, or shoot hoops. It's flexibleyou and your Little plan activities and meet when it works for both of you. Littles are matched with Big Sisters and Big Brothers. This program allows the Littles to shine as they grow and learn from their mentor about relationships and develop to their full potential. Top Big Duo MatchesBig Duo matches include you and someone you have known for one year or more teaming up to mentor one child. Both Bigs meet with their Little together at least half of the time. The rest of the time can be divided up or shared between the Bigs.Top Family MatchesFamily Matches offer a unique opportunity for everyone in the family to participate in mentoring a child. Family matches must have at least one adult over the age of 18, and the family must have lived together for at least one year. Family matches participate at least half the time with all members present; the other half can be shared among the adults.Top RequirementsMales and females who are 18 years and older are eligible to volunteer. Big Brothers Big Sisters requires that the volunteer commit a minimum of one year to the match. Top |
